If you’re a DIYer, then you know there are certain things that make you cringe every time someone says them. If you know a DIYer, you can use this list as a list of things to never say to a DIYer. Check out our list of 15 things all DIYers hate to hear!

  1. Did you buy that at Target?

Yes, Target probably sells something very similar because they sell everything but no, I did not buy it at Target, I made it with my own two hands.

  1. Pinterest is boring.

How could you ever say such a hurtful thing? Pinterest is my life, love and religion.

  1. I wish I had as much time as you.

I also only have 24 hours in the day.

  1. Shouldn’t you hire a professional?

Umm no! That’s why I am here.

  1. That looks easy to do.

Then why don’t you try it? I don’t come into your work and say wow that surgery looks easy to do, so don’t do it to me.

  1. How many tools do you own?

More than I can count.

  1. I just threw out my old dresser last week.

Why didn’t you give it to me? Your trash can always be my next project.

  1. There is glitter everywhere.

Casualty of war my friend.

  1. Do you even make money doing this?

I might, I might not but why is that any of your business?

  1. How much does it cost you to make (the thing you just made)?

Probably a lot but don’t make me admit it.

  1. You’re going to make me one right?

If I had money to throw around, I would. If I feel like making you one I will but don’t ask, that’s just tacky.

  1. You must be rich.

Or, I’m really good at couponing. Either way, it’s not your concern.

  1. Do you have a real job?

Who says this can’t be a real job? Etsy is around for a reason.

  1. You have paint/glitter/glue/etc. on your shirt or pants.

I know, I always do and I probably always will. Pointing it out won’t make it go away or make me feel any better about it.

  1. When will your project be done?

I have no idea, I can’t see the future.
