Have you accumulated miscellaneous items over the years? There’s a box of old clothes tucked away in your basement or a box of kitchen utensils wanting to be used? If this is the case, there are local organizations in Albuquerque that would love your donated items.

ABQ Heading Home

Albuquerque Heading Home aims to make experiences of homelessness rare, short-lived and non-recurring. Each year they set a goal to reduce the number of people living on the streets. They have community partnerships with for-profit, non-profit, private, public, faith and political sectors. There are many ways you can volunteer. From assembling care packages, to helping deliver furniture to people who are moving into housing, you can be a huge help. If you don’t want to volunteer, there are many things you can donate. Love INC of Albuquerque

Love In The Name of Christ helps churches help people by operating a Clearinghouse (Call in Center) staffed by volunteers to help people in need. Their mission is to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ. By volunteering you will help sort clothing and household items, test appliances and electronics, coordinate large item pick-ups, and deliver donations to churches and organizations. You can donate almost anything. Appliances, furniture, household items and clothing. Donations go directly to churches with specific ministries.

Joy Junction

This is a faith-based church ministry that offers emergency and short-term essentials such as food, clothing, transportation, shelter to homeless women, children and families throughout Albuquerque. There are many opportunities for you to donate your time. Common activities include repair and renovation projects, landscaping, organizing games for kids and adults and shopping or working at the Thrift Store. You can also participate in Dollar Days Wish List. It is a compilation of bulk hygiene items in their homeless shelter. To do so, you make a purchase online and have it sent directly to Joy Junction. You can also have a portion of your donation go to transitional housing. This is when an individual needs longer term assistance and Joy Junction offers housing in the former Bandelier Motel. Your donation will go toward keeping the facility stocked and operational.
