Two students are not trying to reinvent the wheel but rather the box. Through the advent of online shopping cardboard boxes have never been in such high demand. The current boxes that transport thousands of items a day and not only wasteful but very unpractical compared to the possible new design.

The proposed redesign from the Copper Union students uses 20% less cardboard, is quicker and easier to pack and unpack and uses absolutely no tape. More importantly the box is very simple to reuse, which is a key benefit to reduce wastefulness.

What has been coined the Rapid Packing Container has been getting a great deal of attention after the two students won an Invention Contest and came away with a $5,000 award. The design is current seeking a patent.
