When I rent a dumpster, how should I prepare for delivery?
Clear the drop-off spot of potential obstacles, like vehicles, large equipment or low-hanging branches. And be sure to open any entry gates so our driver can access the area. You can lay down plywood to mark the delivery spot and protect the pavement from scrapes and scratches, but it’s optional. If we’re parking your roll off dumpster in the street, you may need a permit ahead of time. Contact Spokane’s Public Works & Utilities Department for details. Should I cover my dumpster rental if it rains or snows?
Yes, we recommend covering your roll off container to keep out excess moisture. A tarp secured with bungee cords works well for this purpose. If left uncovered, rain and snow can add extra weight to your bin, causing you to go over its weight limit. Since landfills charge disposal costs by the ton, this results in a per-ton overage fee. Covering your dumpster can also help prevent debris from freezing together in the winter, which could lead to a dig-out fee.
Are there any items I can’t toss in my roll off dumpster?
We haul away most types of debris, including household junk and construction materials. But there are certain prohibited items that can never go in a dumpster rental. This includes refrigerators, tires and paint. Hazardous or flammable materials, as well as infectious medical waste, are also prohibited. 1. Choose a size and delivery spot. We require 60 feet of space in a straight line and 23 feet of vertical clearance.
2. Prepare for delivery. Remove any vehicles, materials or low-hanging obstacles to ensure we can deliver your dumpster and to avoid a trip fee.
3. Fill up your dumpster. Remember to keep your included weight limit in mind to prevent overage fees.
4. Schedule your pickup. To ensure pickup and avoid a trip fee, your dumpster must be accessible and only contain approved debris piled no higher than the sidewalls.
