Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to get a permit for my roll off dumpster?

You don’t need a permit to keep your dumpster rental on private property, such as your driveway or construction site. But if you want us to drop off your bin in a public right-of-way, such as in a street or alley or blocking a sidewalk, you will need a permit. Reach out to Milwaukee’s Permit & Development Center for permitting details. The city requires flashing barricades to mark your dumpster for approaching traffic. The dumpster must also not extend more than 8 feet into the roadway. When you rent a dumpster, we’ll answer any other questions you have about permits.

What’s the cost of a dumpster rental?

They don’t call us Budget Dumpster for nothing. We have roll off containers to fit every budget, even if you don’t have deep pockets. In general, it costs anywhere from $217 to $1,040 to rent a dumpster. But we’ll match you with the bin that’s the best price for your project based on five key factors: location, dumpster size, debris type, debris weight and rental period. For complex jobs, it’s best to call in for a personalized price. But if you have a simple project — or you’re too excited to wait — you can get a quote now.

Are certain items not allowed in my roll off container?

At Budget Dumpster, we haul away most types of residential and commercial debris, along with yard waste. But, certain materials can’t be sent to landfills and transfer stations for safety reasons. This includes oil, paint, gasoline, asbestos and other hazardous waste. You also can’t toss bulky materials like tires and railroad ties into our bins. If you have questions about prohibited items or anything else you can’t throw in a dumpster rental, contact us.

How should I load my dumpster rental?

We recommend loading your largest and heaviest items first. Walk them into your roll off dumpster through the swinging door. Spread them evenly throughout your bin to distribute their weight. You can also collect additional items and use a wheelbarrow to roll them inside. Next, toss lighter objects in over the dumpster sides. Secure your roll off container door at the end of each workday and before pickup. Ensure all debris is level with or below the dumpster’s fill line to avoid an extra fee.

How It Works

1. Choose a size and delivery spot. We require 60 feet of space in a straight line and 23 feet of vertical clearance.
2. Prepare for delivery. Remove any vehicles, materials or low-hanging obstacles to ensure we can deliver your dumpster and to avoid a trip fee.
3. Fill up your dumpster. Remember to keep your included weight limit in mind to prevent overage fees.
4. Schedule your pickup. To ensure pickup and avoid a trip fee, your dumpster must be accessible and only contain approved debris piled no higher than the sidewalls.
