Do I need a permit to rent a dumpster?
Typically, you don’t need a permit to keep your dumpster rental on private property. This includes your driveway or construction site. We can deliver your roll off container to the street in front of or adjacent to your work area, but you may need a permit for that. Contact the town of Colonie’s Department of Public Works before we deliver your roll off dumpster for permitting details. Wherever you decide to keep your bin, ensure the drop-off spot is flat and paved.
Do I need to cover my dumpster rental when it rains?
We recommend covering your dumpster with a tarp when it rains or snows. Secure the tarp to your bin with bungee cords. This will help prevent water from pooling inside and soaking absorbent materials, adding extra weight to your roll off container. When you rent a dumpster, your bin has a weight limit included in your quoted price. Exceeding this limit will result in a per-ton overage fee, so consider covering your dumpster before a storm.
