Frequently Asked Questions
Why are certain materials prohibited from disposal?
Most items not allowed in our Columbia Heights-area dumpster rentals are those classified as hazardous materials and can't be disposed of in landfills, such as fuels, motor oil and refrigerants. Other items, such as tires and railroad ties must be taken to other facilities for recycling or reuse. Give us a call if you have questions about prohibited materials.
Should I cover my roll off container in the rain?
Heavy rain can fill your dumpster rental with standing water and saturate your debris, making the bin heavier than normal. Exceeding your roll off container’s maximum weight limit may result in additional charges. The easiest way to cover your dumpster is to throw a tarp over the top and secure it using bungee cords or weights so the wind doesn't blow it away.
Will I need a permit for my dumpster rental?
If you want to keep your dumpster rental on the street, you will need to apply for a Street Obstruction Permit from the city of Columbia Heights since it will be placed on public property. You will not need a permit to place your container on private property, like in your driveway or on a job site.
